Kebren was located in the middle of the Skamander valley in Troas. It was part of the Delian League in the 5th century BC, but in 404 BC, it came under the control of Zenis, the tyrant of Dardanos, who with his wife Mania ruled much of Troas on behalf of the Persian satrap, Pharnazabos.
